PESO notified regarding the Ban on Electric Detonators

EHS ComplianceThe Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO), on July 09, 2025, notified regarding the Ban on Electric Detonators.

The following has been stated, namely: -

• It states that all manufacturers & LE-3 licence holders (possess and sale, possess and use, i.e. Form 21 and Form 22) shall declare the available stock of Instantaneous Electrical Detonators in their magazines to the nearest PESO Circle/Sub-Circle offices and coordinate with said offices for destruction of the said detonators at the earliest. 

• All data, including brand ID, size code, bar code details, etc., shall be incorporated in the destruction report, and the same shall be forwarded to Chief Controller of Explosives, Nagpur, and also licensee shall upload the destruction report in the SETT system. 

• It is highlighted that Instantaneous Electrical Detonators at any cost should not be misused/pilfered/diverted under their possession. Moreover, they are requested to ensure the safety and security of the Instantaneous Electrical Detonators till the destruction is completed. Proper accounting of the above, as mentioned in the earlier paragraph, shall be ensured.
